WELCOMING FALL
A Season for Connection, Comfort, and New Experiences

There is something special about fall in Wisconsin. The cooler mornings, changing leaves, football weekends, warm meals, and familiar traditions seem to invite us to slow down and enjoy the people and experiences around us. For older adults, fall can be an especially meaningful season - a time to stay active, connect with others, revisit favorite traditions, and discover something new.

Staying Active as the Seasons Change

As summer comes to an end, it can be tempting to spend more time indoors. But staying physically and socially active remains important throughout the year. Fall is a perfect time for walks to enjoy the changing colors, gentle exercise, stretching and movement programs, or simply spending time outside on a pleasant afternoon. When Wisconsin weather sends us indoors, there are still plenty of ways to keep moving. The goal is not strenuous exercise. It is continuing to move, participate, and find activities that feel good and are appropriate for each person's abilities.

Fall Flavors Bring People Together

Food has a wonderful way of bringing back memories. The smell of apples and cinnamon may remind someone of baking pies with family. A pot of homemade soup can bring back memories of cool evenings at home. And in Wisconsin, a fall weekend would not feel quite complete without a little football food and conversation. Cooking experiences, seasonal treats, apple recipes, soups, warm beverages, and football-themed gatherings are not simply about what is being served. They create opportunities for conversation, laughter, reminiscing, and connection.

Keep Learning and Creating

Growing older should never mean that opportunities to learn and experience new things stop. Fall can inspire watercolor painting, seasonal decorating, gardening projects, cooking experiences, book discussions, music programs, educational presentations, games, and opportunities to learn something completely new. Some people love participating in a group. Others may prefer watching, listening, or having a quiet conversation. Meaningful engagement looks different for every person - and that is okay. What matters is continuing to have opportunities for purpose, curiosity, creativity, and enjoyment.

Music, Books, and Memories

A favorite song can bring back a memory almost instantly. So can a familiar book, poem, recipe, photograph, or fall tradition. Music and reading are wonderful ways to connect generations and encourage conversation. Residents may enjoy sharing favorite authors, reading together, listening to music from different decades, discussing current books, or simply telling the stories behind songs that have meaning to them. Those stories are worth hearing.

Football Season Is Here!

In Wisconsin, fall also means football season. Game-day gatherings can become an event of their own - with team colors, tailgate foods, friendly predictions, football trivia, and plenty of cheering. Whether someone follows every play or simply enjoys being part of the gathering, it is another opportunity to bring people together. And around Green Bay, we know football has a way of doing exactly that.

Fall Is Better When It Is Shared

One of the greatest benefits of a senior-living community is having opportunities for connection close at hand. A conversation over coffee. Trying a new activity. Sharing a meal. Listening to live music. Joining friends for happy hour. Reading a good book. Watching the leaves change. Teaching someone something you have known how to do for years. These seemingly small moments can become some of the most meaningful parts of the day.

We believe Life Enrichment should be about much more than filling a calendar. It should enrich the lives of our residents, give them opportunities to share what they have learned with others, and encourage them to keep learning and experiencing life themselves. This fall, we look forward to another season filled with connection, purpose, learning, laughter, and experiences worth sharing.

Considering Senior Living This Fall?

Fall can also be a good time for families to begin exploring senior-living options - whether a move is needed soon or you are simply planning for the future. Visit, ask questions, meet the people who live and work in the community, and take time to experience it for yourself. Choosing senior living is about much more than finding an apartment or receiving assistance. It is about finding a community where each person can continue to have choices, relationships, purpose, and experiences to look forward to.

Because choosing senior living is not only about finding a place to live. It is about finding a place to keep living well. Wishing you a warm and meaningful fall season.

Learn Why You’ll Love Bayview Senior Care
Bayview has been great! My loved one is receiving excellent care and feels valued and appreciated! She is settled in nicely and has made a nice adjustment. She truly feels a part of her new community. Moving her to Bayview is the BEST decision I've made on her behalf. We are especially grateful for the value of this facility. I've shared our experience with MANY friends in Northern Door. They need to know that they have wonderful options! Barb

It was my 1st time in [Bayview Senior Center]. The staff greeted me when I walked in. It was very clean! The residents seemed happy. My great grandma was very content, pleased and relaxed. Great job! Angela R.
Our dad was Walter Alvin and he lived at Anna's/Bayview from March 2019 until September of this year. His apartment was large with a full kitchen, a walk out patio that provided him with a space for a small vegetable & flower garden - enough cherry tomatoes to share with the kitchen - and a view of an open field. He had the space that he needed to do his various projects & hobbies. The staff were kind and, just as important to him, they respected his privacy & independence. When our folks moved into Anna's, our mother was alive. During this time, we will always be grateful for the care you gave our parents & especially to our mother during the last 9 months of her life. The staff were incredibly kind & compassionate. We want to thank you for all the kindness & care you gave our dad during his stay with you. We always knew he was safe, that there were people looking out for him, and that he was content. Family of Walter Alvin
My "Door County Mom" spent her last years at [Bayview Senior Center] in Sturgeon Bay. I would visit twice, three times, sometimes four visits a week and the place was always immaculate. We would play sheepshead in one of the bigger corner family areas, go for strolls around the complex and look out over the waters of Sturgeon Bay and we loved BINGO! I would recommend [Bayview] to anyone/everyone... Nick F.
I moved here in March, 2022. I cannot see hardly at all and my hands are very arthritic so I need alot of help. The staff here takes really good care of me and are really good about encouraging me and making sure I get to and from the activities. I love the Activity Program, we are always busy, my favorite things are the music, arts & crafts, the documentaries, travel programs, discussions, and especially the bike program in the summer. The Chapel is the most important thing to me. I spend alot of time in there and enjoy all the services they have. I have been in other places before moving here, this is my home now and I feel like I belong here. Catherine R.
